Facts only from official sources
Every fact comes from an official filing (state attorneys general, HHS, the SEC), an official court docket, an official settlement website or an official registry. Each page names and links the source with its date, for example "According to the notice filed with the Texas Attorney General on [date]".
No opinions or accusations
We report what the filings say. We do not say or suggest that an organization did anything wrong, and we do not guess why a breach happened. For lawsuits we only state that a class action was filed in a court on a date, with the docket link.
No personal data
We never publish an individual's name or personal details, and we never host, describe or link to leaked data.
Our own words
We summarise filings in our own words and tables and link to the official copy of each notice letter instead of copying it. Organization names are written exactly as they appear in the filing.
Settlement information
Amounts, eligibility and deadlines are copied exactly from the official settlement website, with the date we checked it. We do not use hype or false urgency.
Advertising and affiliate links
Advertising and affiliate links never change what we report. Pages with affiliate links say so. See our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
We fix errors quickly and keep a log of corrections. See our corrections policy.
